OVN LLC Launches Verilane, an AI Driver Onboarding System Built for Same-Day Approval

Managed expedite carrier automates driver qualification, verifies policies through an AI voice agent, and re-checks coverage continuously across its fleet

Verilane does not treat a certificate of insurance as proof on its own. After reviewing the document, the system confirms the policy directly with the provider through an AI voice agent, then re-verifies coverage continuously in rotation across the fleet. Coverage is treated as a status that has to be re-earned rather than a one-time stamp at signup. OVN expects Verilane to cut onboarding time by approximately 50% and to clear correctly documented drivers the same day they apply.

OVN’s capacity comes primarily from independent owner-operators running their own vans under contract, alongside the company’s owned fleet. That structure makes qualification a document-heavy process, and it is why the verification stage has historically been the bottleneck.

The rollout lands at the start of OVN’s busiest stretch of the year. Demand for expedited freight climbs from September through December as agricultural and retail volume absorbs standard truckload capacity and shippers turn to cargo vans for time-critical moves. Onboarding speed determines how much of that capacity a carrier can accommodate.

Most AI-driven carrier verification in freight occurs on the broker side, where third-party platforms vet outside carriers during onboarding. OVN built Verilane for its own contracted fleet, and it runs continuously rather than just at signup, re-confirming coverage in rotation across every van in the network.

How Verilane works:

Verilane clears a driver in four stages:
1. Document checklist. The driver sees every required document up front and confirms each one.
2. Upload. The driver submits the full set of documents in a single pass, including live vehicle photos. Images are captured only through the phone camera within the flow, so drivers cannot submit pre-existing or downloaded photos. The capture covers all four sides of the van plus the open rear doors and cargo area.
3. Automated verification. Verilane checks the file as a whole rather than document by document. The driver’s license serves as the anchor, and names, numbers, and business entities must agree across identity, business, and payment details, insurance, and vehicle registration before anything clears. The system flags mismatches and sends correction tasks directly to the driver. Anything ambiguous routes to a human specialist immediately.
4. Clearance and activation. When the file clears, the driver receives Verilane Certified status, is assigned a unit number, appears on OVN’s live capacity map as available, and begins receiving load proposals. Before accepting a first load, the driver completes OVN Academy, a video training sequence.

Payment details are verified rather than simply collected, with the system confirming that a contractor’s account is real and belongs to them before any settlement is paid out. A subset of OVN’s drivers also hold TWIC and TSA credentials, which are pre-cleared in the file so that loads requiring security clearance can be matched and dispatched without a paperwork scramble.

OVN expects Verilane to cut total onboarding time to 24 to 48 hours from application to first load offer, and same-day approval when a driver’s documents are correct on the first upload.
